Pastini Pastaria is a locally owned, Portland-based restaurant company started in 2001. Currently there are eight Pastini’s – casual Italian bistros with a passion for pasta – known for genuine hospitality, stellar service and wonderful food made with fresh ingredients.

Each Pastini has a cool zeitgeist and a warm, urban atmosphere with cozy booths and art glass lights.  We serve an authentic menu of pastas from all Italian regions, and at Portland’s friendly prices.  An emphasis on our local roots and neighborhood involvement combines with a philosophy of sustainability in our business practices.

As a Host/Hostess you will work in a team-oriented, high-volume, fast-paced, environment to deliver the best dining experience to our guests by:

  • Effectively answer phones, schedule reservations, answer questions, handle to-go orders and arrange special guest requests.
  • Create positive impressions of restaurant by promptly and warmly welcoming guests with a smile.
  • Managing restaurant waiting list during high volume times to accurately set guest expectations
  • Courteously indicate where guests can wait until their table is ready and communicate with guests about and during wait times.
  • Offer beverages to guests in waiting area.
  • Properly rotate seating in server sections.
  • Courteously escort guests to their seat and provide menus.
  • Assists servers with water and beverage refills, bussing, setting tables, making change and processing payments.
  • Say “good-bye” and “thank-you” to every guest as they leave


  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 6 months of customer service, retail sales, or food service experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner
  • Ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers in English
  • Be groomed and dressed ato uniform standards each shift.
  • Possess outstanding interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with guests.
  • Work well with other restaurant employees to present an enjoyable dining experience to guests.
  • Be able to bend, twist, stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Have outstanding and effective table management skills to take reservations appropriately and maximize seating.
  • Be organized and comfortable with multi-tasking during busy meal times and long lines.
  • Is able to obtain valid food handler’s card and OLCC permit
  • Able to arrive to work on time, ready to start a scheduled shift
  • Displays a basic knowledge of restaurant operation
  • Displays a friendly, professional, and helpful attitude towards coworkers and management at all times
  • Demonstrates good time management skills by completing all tasks in a timely manner
  • Must be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Consistently arrives to work as scheduled, prepared to assume shift responsibilities
  • Consistently arrives to work well groomed and in proper uniform
  • Answers all phone calls in a professional, timely manner
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of menu, including featured items and soups
  • Takes to go orders accurately
  • Ensures all to-go orders are complete before handing to guest
  • Has strong working knowledge of dining room and seating
  • Complies with, and supports, all policies and procedures in the employee handbook and the departmental training manual
  • Willingly, and with a positive attitude, follows direction of all management, including additional requests for sidework, cleaning, etc.
  • Ability to use Point of Sale Computer System.
